A series of virtual roundtables are being organised jointly by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Development Partners Network for Decentralization and Local Governance (DeLoG), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) from 19 to 22 April 2021. The roundtables will explore key components that contribute to creating an enabling environment for localising the SDGs 2030 where subnational and local governments are able to contribute meaningfully to the national SDG agenda.

Following an unprecedented year, the RCE SDG Youth Challenge has now commenced its fourth year running. The global initiative aims to engage and empower local youth leaders with the opportunity to have a voice and implement their own place-based projects on issues that matter to them and the RCEs.
The 2021 CIES conference will take place virtually from 25 April – May 2, 2021, featuring a session ‘ESD Beyond Schools: Translating global goals to local actions through lifelong learning’ (27 April, 2021, 7:15-8:45pm PDT), in which a panel will share four research perspectives on this topic. These include education initiatives from RCEs working on climate action projects, as well as how ESD activities throughout the RCE network have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, focusing on the findings from the survey carried out with RCEs last year.
RCE Kuching will be organising a forum on 'Valuing Water' on 22 March, 2021 to celebrate the United Nations World Water Day 2021.
The forum panel will relate to the current status of SDG 6 Water and Sanitation globally, and specifically in the Asia-Pacific region, with sharing on the work of RCEs.
UNU-IAS will organise a webinar on Monday 22 March, 2021 from 21:00 – 22:45 JST, in observance of World Water Day (WWD) 2021 in collaboration with UNU Institute for Integrated Management of Material Fluxes and of Resources (UNU-FLORES) and the Global Environment Outreach Centre (GEOC).
The theme of the WWD 2021 is 'Valuing Water' and this webinar will be aligned with this allowing for discussions by experts to analyse different roles and values that water offers as well as how these values can be synthesised to achieve SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation.

Forty youth members from Japanese RCEs gathered online for the 3rd Japan RCE Youth Meeting held on 18 February, 2021, co-organised by RCE Okayama and UNU-IAS, to discuss youth activities on education for sustainable development (ESD) and to share relevant ideas among members. The meeting was held jointly with the Working Level Meeting of Japanese RCEs, and was divided into two parts: (i) the sharing of RCE youth activities, and (ii) a group discussion.
