The 10th African RCE Regional Meeting was held virtually (online), on 1 September and 15 September, 2020 under the theme 'Community-Based Resilience during Pandemic Disruption: The Role of African RCEs'. Hosted by RCE Minna, the two-part event saw 63 participants from 17 RCEs across 8 countries across the region attend.
UNESCO is organising a series of regional online launch events of the ESD for 2030 Roadmap which provides guidance for Member States and other stakeholders for the implementation of the new global framework 'Education for Sustainable Development: Towards achieving the SDGs' (ESD for 2030). In the Annual meeting of the RCEs of the countries of the UK and Ireland held virtually in Dublin, Social Prescribing was identified as the main topic of interest to be pursued by the group. RCE Wales' (Cymru) Social Prescribing Circle of Interest has been invited to deliver a webinar on the topic.
The 2030 Agenda for sustainable development is aimed towards 'transforming the world', targeting the eradication of poverty in all its forms and dimensions. The Agenda emphatically expresses the commitment by states to take bold and transformative steps to shift the world on to a sustainable and resilient path, while ensuring that no one is left behind. Youth inclusivity has therefore factored as an important feature of the SDGs.

UNU-IAS will co-organise a webinar on the theme of Sustainable Lifestyles for a Green Recovery: COVID-19 and the SDGs, with Sophia University, the Ministry of the Environment Japan (MOEJ) and the Global Environment Outreach Centre (GEOC). RCE East Kalimantan, RCE East Java (candidate), and RCE Srinagar will co-host a webinar ‘Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Preparedness, COVID-19 and Sustainability', marking the ‘International Day for Disaster Reduction’ (IDDR) 2020. The Day celebrates how people and communities around the world are reducing their exposure to disasters and raising awareness about the importance of reining in the risks that they face.
