2021 RCE Dobong-gu ESD Open Seminar

RCE Dobong-Gu is aiming to spread ESD for ecological literacy and glocal leadership, of which the 'Global ESD Youth Project Neuru' is being operated as a part of this.

Under the topic of 'The Truth of Hamburgers', about 50 students (elementary school, middle school, high school, and college) are working non-face-to-face once a month through Zoom. Currently, RCE Hangzhou, RCE Kitakyushu, RCE Dobong-Gu, Mason City in USA are participating. Participating students are sharing various stories about sustainable food using photo-voice research methods centered on hamburgers.

Nigerian RCE Youth Leadership Retreat

RCE Minna, in collaboration with the Royal Institute for Training and Human Capital Development, will be holding the first Nigerian RCE Youth Leadership Retreat from 17-19 September, 2021. The theme of the event will be 'Excelling in a Disruptive Environment: The Place of Technology, Innovation and Partnership'. RCE Denmark Present 'Apprentices for Sustainability' Project at Conference in Danish Parliament

For almost two years, Copenhagen's carpentry apprentices, together with RCE Denmark and NEXT Education Copenhagen, have investigated how together they can change construction in a sustainable direction through education. Last week, they were invited to present their results at a conference in the Danish Parliament.

9th World Sustainability Forum

UNU-IAS will be presenting in a session organised by IAU at the 9th World Sustainability Forum (taking place virtually from 13-15 September 2021). This session, 'Higher Education and Research – How universities around the world engage with Sustainability and build partnerships for the SDGs', will focus on higher education's role for sustainable development, presenting the IAU's work on its strategic priority of HESD (Higher Education and Research for Sustainable Development), how it fosters this around the world, and how collaboration between universities and HEIs can be increased.

Two New RCEs Join the Network

The Global RCE Service Centre is delighted to announce two new RCEs joining the network this month - RCE Greater Kuala Lumpur, located in Malaysia, and RCE Mishmi Hills, in India, who were both recently acknowledged by the Ubuntu Committee of Peers for the RCEs. 

Globally, the RCE Network now consists of 181 RCEs. The updated list (including profiles) of RCEs worldwide can be viewed here.

Western Sydney University’s Sustainability and Resilience 2030 Decadal Strategy Launch

This webinar will be an opportunity to learn about their impacts to date, plans for the future and hear from their panel of distinguished respondents and students on what they think of the future they are trying to create. 

Webinar Series to Celebrate 10 Years of RCE London: Sustainability and Beyond

RCE London is marking its 10th milestone year with a webinar series entitled 'Sustainability and Beyond' with the emphasis on an eclectic mix of themes around the Sustainable Development Goals. Each webinar will be presented virtually by members of RCE London with a range of inspiring speakers, with time for discussion and questions. The series Chair is Ros Wade, Emeritus Professor, LSBU and Chair of RCE London. The series is hosted by London South Bank University. Registrants will receive the joining instructions three days before each webinar takes place.
