Eight New RCEs Join the Network During the 10th Global RCE Conference

We are delighted to announce that several new RCEs have joined the RCE network as of November 2016. Eight new RCEs from across all regions were acknowledged during the Ubuntu Commitee of Peers at the 10th Global RCE Conference, 23-25 November, 2016 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. This brings the total number of RCEs up to 154.

Virtual Access to Sessions of 10th Global RCE Conference

 The 10th Global RCE Conference which held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia from 23-25 November 2016 discussed strategies to make substantial contributions to the Global Action Programme (GAP) on ESD and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. As 2017 will be an important year marking the mid-term of the GAP, the Conference also aimed to reflect on the achievements and challenges of RCEs and discuss how we can accelerate our actions by engaging and working with local communities.

8th Tongyeong ESD International Forum reviews role of Sejahtera Centre for Asian Pacific RCEs

RCE Tongyeong and the Municipal Government of Tongyeong established the ‘Sejahtera Forest for All’. ‘Sejahtera’, a Malaya word, means sustainability. RCE Tongyeong, Korea dedicated the three-story education centre, within a 200,000-meter square Eco-Park, to promote ESD and the Asian Pacific RCE network. Since its establishment, the Park has seen regular ESD Forums, this year being the 8th gathering on 21-22 October 2016.

Executive Director Vacancy at Tongyeong ESD and RCE Tongyeong Sejahtera Forest

The Executive Director will have the following responsibilities:

Overall management of programs, operations and facilities of Tongyeong Education Foundation for Sustainable Development and of RCE Tongyeong Sejahtera Forest

Contribute to strengthening Asia Pacific Sejahtera Network and Sejahtera Centre for RCEs in Asia Pacific to serve as regional platform for education for sustainable development.

CBD-COP 13 RCE Side Event: Education through Multistakeholder Partnerships in implementing the Biodiversity Agenda

The Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) - 13th Conference of Parties (COP13) will be held in Cancun 4-17 December, 2016. An RCE side event 'Education through Multistakeholder Partnerships in implementing the Biodiversity Agenda' is planned during the first week of COP. The event is jointly organized by UNU-IAS, the Global RCE network and the UNESCO GAP programme.
