Youth Leadership Summit: Shaping Future Leaders through ESD, 27-29 April, 2016, Kakamega, Kenya

Organised by the Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) the main objectives of this summit are:

1) To inculcate leadership, innovative and entrepreneurial skills in participants 

2) To bring youths together from the Western region with diverse agenda in realization of vision 2030 and beyond.
3) To promote the vision of MMUST as a Premier University in Science, Technology and Innovation.

UNU celebrates 40th Anniversary with symposium on 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

On 6 November 2015 the United Nations University organized the symposium “Implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”, as part of a series of events celebrating 40 years of UNU’s academic work. The symposium considered the adoption of the 2030 Agenda by UN Member States and the challenges faced by this ambitious global plan and the 17 SDGs.

RCE Dublin and RCE Oldenburger Münsterland meet at UNESCO conference

The conference "Bridging Education and Science for Sustainable Development" held in Daugavpils, Latvia on 2-3 December 2015, was organized by the Latvian National Commission for UNESCO in cooperation with the UNESCO Chair at the Daugavpils University, Ilga Salite and the National Centre for Education.

ESD Okayama Award ceremony celebrates inspirational ESD initiatives worldwide and at home

The ESD Okayama Award was established by the ESD Okayama Award Steering Board and City of Okayama in 2015, to showcase and promote ESD worldwide. 50 applicants applied for the ‘ESD Okayama Award’ with 29 applicants from 27 countries and 21 national applications from Japan. 30 applications were received for the ‘Okayama Regional Awards’. The initial screening left the jury with nine finalists for the global award and five finalists for the regional award. Finally the judges selected two winners for each award. However, the judges managed to select two winners for each award category.

Call for Papers: Symposium on Sustainable Development Research in Australia and New Zealand, Melbourne, Australia, 1st-2nd August 2016

The "Symposium on Sustainable Development Research in Australia and New Zealand" will be held in Melbourne, Australia on 1st-2nd August 2016. The event, hosted by RMIT University, is co-organised by the Inter-University Sustainable Development Research Programme (IUSDRP), run by Manchester Metropolitan University and Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, and involves a number of institutions of higher education active in this field, from across the region.

At COP21 in Paris, the Munich Climate Insurance Initiative (MCII) presented key findings on how the G7 InsuReslience Initiative can meet the needs of poor and vulnerable people facing climate risks.
