Japanese RCE Youth Meeting Held in Kitakyushu

On 10 February, 2019, UNU-IAS held a Japanese RCE Youth Meeting in Kitakyushu, Japan, with around 40 participants (including 20 youth members) from all seven Japanese RCEs in attendance. The meeting was held back-to-back with an RCE Working-level Meeting (hosted by RCE Kitakyushu) and the Kitakyushu ESD Forum (hosted by RCE Kitakyushu and the City of Kitakyushu).

Asia-Pacific SDG Youth Challenge: 2018 Final Report

The first Asia-Pacific SDG Challenge held in 2018, 'Youth for the Goals: Climate Action and Life Below Water' aimed to inspire and mobilise on-ground projects led by youth, centred around SDGs 13 and 14.

Collectively it achieved an engagement of nearly 40,000 youth participants across the Asia-Pacific region.

Deadline Extended: RCE Youth SDG Challenge 2019

Following a successful pilot last year, the 2019 RCE Youth SDG Challenge ‘Youth for the Goals: Social Inequalities’ is back! Led by the Asia-Pacific Regional Youth Leaders (from RCE Greater Western Sydney and RCE Yogyakarta) via the RCE network, this year's challenge will focus on SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities and is open to all youth globally.

Asia-Pacific Virtual Youth Summit

In celebration of the Youth SDG Challenge 2018, and in conjunction with the 11th Asia-Pacific Regional RCE Meeting and Symposium, the first Asia-Pacific Virtual Youth Summit will be held on 24 September, 2018. This initiative is led by the Asia-Pacific Youth Regional Coordinators, Brittany Hardiman (RCE Greater Western Sydney) and Emmy Rusadi (RCE Yogyakarta).

RCE Youth Virtual Conference: Migration Adversity and ESD’s Role

Held on 30 April, 2018, the Global RCE Youth Network in collaboration with RCE Kano, RCE London, and RCE Penang, in partnership with the Centre for Global Sustainability Studies, Universiti Sains Malaysia brought together European, African and Asian RCEs virtually for the 1st Europe-Africa-Asia RCE Youth Virtual Conference.

Asia-Pacific SDG Youth Challenge Commences

The first youth-led Asia-Pacific SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) Challenge, supported by the RCE network, commenced in February with 30 youth-led projects submitted across 12 RCEs, as well as three ESD-related projects from UNESCO.

During the challenge, youth across the globe will focus on SDG 13: Climate Action and SDG 14: Life Below Water to mobilise on-ground activities in their local region.

Asia-Pacific 2018 Youth SDG Challenge

Led by the Asia-Pacific Regional Youth Leaders, the first Asia-Pacific SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) Challenge will be held in February 2018, focusing on SDG 13: Climate Action and SDG 14: Life Below Water. RCE Thiruvananthapuram Launches Campus Leaders For Sustainable Development Programme

RCE Thiruvananthapuram has launched a ‘Campus Leaders for Sustainable Development Programme’ in partnership with various government organisations, private entities, civil society organisations and individual mentors committed to the cause of sustainable development.

The programme aims to identify and mould young leaders from university and college campuses to lead the youth in various realms of sustainability and act as torch bearers for Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).

RCE Lagos Youth Technology Academy

RCE Lagos is launching its first Youth Technology Academy to showcase the innovative skills of Nigerian youth, connect them with a community and link them with potential donors, philanthropists, organisations and government agencies. It is calling on youth who are interested in driving Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and Sustainable Development (SD) through the use of technology to register to be a part of the academy.
