8th Tongyeong ESD International Forum reviews role of Sejahtera Centre for Asian Pacific RCEs

RCE Tongyeong and the Municipal Government of Tongyeong established the ‘Sejahtera Forest for All’. ‘Sejahtera’, a Malaya word, means sustainability. RCE Tongyeong, Korea dedicated the three-story education centre, within a 200,000-meter square Eco-Park, to promote ESD and the Asian Pacific RCE network. Since its establishment, the Park has seen regular ESD Forums, this year being the 8th gathering on 21-22 October 2016.

CBD-COP 13 RCE Side Event: Education through Multistakeholder Partnerships in implementing the Biodiversity Agenda

The Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) - 13th Conference of Parties (COP13) will be held in Cancun 4-17 December, 2016. An RCE side event 'Education through Multistakeholder Partnerships in implementing the Biodiversity Agenda' is planned during the first week of COP. The event is jointly organized by UNU-IAS, the Global RCE network and the UNESCO GAP programme.

6th African RCE Conference sees Youth actively engaging and leads to Action Plans for implementation of the GAP and SDGs

African RCEs met for the sixth time at Kenyatta University Nairobi, Kenya on 24-26 August, 2016. The theme of the conference was ‘Developing Capacities of African RCEs for the Implementation of the Global Action Programme (GAP) on ESD and the Achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs)’.

African RCEs to Deliver SDGs and GAP – Side Event at TICAD6

Japan launched TICAD in 1993 in order to refocus international attention on the importance and urgency of African development issues. The Summit’s objectives are to promote high-level policy dialogue between African leaders and development partners, and to mobilize support for African-owned development initiatives. The Summit is co-organized by the Government of Japan, the United Nations Office of the Special Advisor on Africa (UN-OSAA), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the African Union Commission (AUC) and the World Bank.
