EcoChallenge: Join the team to change one habit that benefits you and the planet! 15-29 October 2015

You are invited to participate in this year’s EcoChallenge! For two weeks, 15-29 October 2015, EcoChallenge leads you and your team to change one habit to benefit both you and the planet. The EcoChallenge is a free annual event that encourages individuals and teams to pick a category—water, trash, energy, food, transportation, civic engagement, connect with the earth, or your own category —and set a goal that stretches your comfort zone and makes a difference for you, your community, and the planet.

ESD Okayama Award

Okayama City is pleased to announce the launch of the ‘ESD Okayama Award’ in cooperation with the ESD Okayama Award Steering Board composed of organizations which have been promoting ESD in Japan and around the world.

2 ESD-related PhDs at London South Bank University available

Applications are welcome for two full-time, funded PhDs commencing in September 2015 in the School of Law and Social Sciences at London South Bank University. The scholarships cover fees and offer a stipend of £15,000 p.a. for three years.

We welcome proposals in all areas of research relevant to the School, including areas that address the School research focus of “Social Justice and Global Responsibility”. We are particularly interested in applications which relate to one or more of the following:

New ProSPER.Net co-sponsored internship with Global Compact Cities Programme and RMIT University

ProSPER.Net is excited to announce that it is currently developing a co-sponsored internship programme with the Global Compact Cities Programme and RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. This pilot collaboration will be based on two urban research focused internships for postgraduate students from ProSPER.Net universities in the Asia Pacific region. Interns will be based in a selected city government and assist that city with completing a Global Compact City Scan assessment.

Wenhui Award for Educational Innovation 2015: Innovations for Skills Development for the Future

The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) provided some answers to the question: what sorts of skills are needed to cope with continuous change, and how can these skills be developed? According to a recent survey, senior business executives agree that the top three skills their companies need are problem solving (50%), team working (35%) and communication (32%). Of some concern, however, is the perception of skills gap in the workplace by 52% of the executives.
