Asia-Pacific Strategic Paper ‘Advancing ESD beyond 2014: Strategy for Asia-Pacific RCEs'

Over 100 RCE members from 29 of the 49 Asia-Pacific RCEs met in Okayama during the 9th Global RCE Conference to reflect on recent developments in the community and discuss a more dynamic collaboration and the post-2014 strategic direction. One of the highlights of the meeting was the adoption of the Asia-Pacific Strategic Paper ‘Advancing ESD beyond 2014: Strategy for Asia-Pacific RCEs’ which encapsulates the aspirations of the Asia-Pacific RCE community and served as input to the RCE Global Conference.

University Educators for Sustainable Development (UE4SD): STATE OF THE ART REPORT Mapping opportunities for developing Education for SD competences in the UE4SD partner countries

University Educators for Sustainable Development (UE4SD) is a 3 year European Commission project funded through the Lifelong Learning Programme. UE4SD seeks to improve professional development opportunities for university educators in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). It supports the development of professional competences and academic leadership capabilities in ESD, to enable teaching staff to reorient curricula and prepare students for understanding and applying their professional and global responsibilities in sustainable development.

World Bank Report: Turn Down the Heat: Confronting the New Climate Normal

The Turn Down the Heat report series, prepared for the Word Bank by the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and Climate Analytics, provides snapshots of the latest climate science. The three reports warn that without concerted action, temperatures are on pace to rise to 4°C above pre-industrial times by the end of this century. The first report (2012), looks at the risks of a world 4°C or even 2°C warmer. The second (2013) examines the impact on Africa, South Asia, and South East Asia.
