RCE Kyrgyzstan is located in Central Asia in the Kyrgyz Republic, home to about 7 million people. The majority of the population is Kyrgyz, and the language is Kyrgyz and Russian. Kyrgyzstan is 92% mountainous and is a source of fresh water, rich biodiversity, and authentic culture and traditions.

RCE Kyrgyzstan has developed a program to improve the capacity of teachers and state officials. The overall project objective: Capacity building for decision makers and educators on Sustainable development and DESD implementation, program focused on:
- Capacity building for educators, government representatives, local communities and youth;
- Implementation of SD principles to schools, Higher Institutions and TVET programs;
- Introduction of SD principles to government system;
- Access to information materials on SD&ESD.
Program activities:
- Prepared of Study Module on SD&ESD;
- Conducted 6 training for government representatives and educators in the country;
- Published project materials: Training Module, reading book and CD on Russian language;
- Program materials disseminated around training participants and stakeholders;
- Translated training module in Kyrgyz language.
Project materials “SD Training module” disseminated among Kyrgyz schoolteachers and Higher Education Institutions. The project was supported by USA Embassy in Kyrgyzstan recognised as the best project of the year 2008-2009 among US State Department alumnus.
RCE Kyrgyzstan has implemented a number of projects with donors support: UNESCO Kazakhstan National Office, US Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic, EURASIA Foundation in KR, HELVETAS Swiss Inter-cooperation, US State Department, USAID, OSCE. RCE Kyrgyzstan implemented more than 15 projects in Kyrgyzstan and Central Asia, and received awards from UNU as Outstanding Flagship Project in 2014 and 2015: RCE Kyrgyzstan project – Strengthening the role of education for sustainable development in the process of transition to “green” skills in Technical Vocational Education System (TVET) and micro, small, medium enterprises in Kyrgyz Republic (Category B: UNU Acknowledged Flagship Project for contributing to capacity development).
Additionally:
1. RCE Kyrgyzstan hosted 13th Asia-Pacific RCE online meeting (2020-2021)
2. Implementation of the ProSPER.Net joint project 'Circular Economy Integration for Sustainable Built Environment Education'
3. Strong partnership with AKSU University to project implementation, lecturing for master program
4. Along with scientists from Institute of Biology (NAS KR), conducting research on biodiversity assessment
