UNEP holds Regional Symposium on the Integrated Approach for Sustainable Development in Latin America and the Caribbean

With the approval and start of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals, the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), with support from the government of Brazil, has recently held a Regional Symposium on the Integrated Approach for Sustainable Development in Latin America and the Caribbean.

UNEP has been working on collecting experiences from the region, which show the efforts of a diverse range of stakeholders to solve complex issues with an integrated approach that advances sustainable development at local, national or regional levels. All of them show that the SDGs do not arrive to a vacuum and that the region has a lot to offer in terms of specific solutions, tools and experiences. This compilation was launched during the symposium, which took place on 4-5 October 2016 in Brasilia, with the participation of representatives of the experiences of 21 countries from government, private sector, civil society, communities and international organizations. The inputs received in the interactive panels and working groups are aimed to advance furthermore an integrated approach to implement the 2030 Agenda in the region.
