Provide a short description of the project including strategies, regional challenges, aims and specific project activities.: 

Aims: The project Shaping Competences (GenE) increase the capacities of educators and trainers to deliver holistic ESD in schools but also in the non-formal education.

Strategies: One mayor target group of GenE are the city-paid teachers who do their on-job training with the Pedagogical Institute Munich. Another group are trainers in the non-formal field and other multipliers.

Specific project activities:

  • In 2016 around 500 educators and trainers participated in workshops, consultations and simulation- and management games.
  • New cooperations, for example with the EU-Projekt „Methods of Education for Sustainable Development“ (metESD) with RCE Oldenburger Münsterland.
  • Currently GenE runs 15 simulation- and management games for education for sustainable development.
  • Arround 50 multiplicators participated in the U-Lab MOOC of MIT with a regional HUB in Munich to train better communication and leadership. Some outcomes of this seminar are: a lecture series with Nicanor Perlas (Right Livelihood Avard), System-Analytic-Tool “Vita Futura Meta Index” and several small initiatives for sustainable regional development and sustainable consumption.
