Status:
Completed
Period:
April, 2017
Objectives:
The study sought to assess the influence of UNU-stipulated RCE institutional management practices/core elements on implementation of ESD in the host universities and the regions as a whole. With universities being centres of learning, research and community outreach, they play a central role in ensuring successful implementation of ESD through effective operationalisation of the RCE institutional management practices. This would equip the learners and community with ability to engage in sustainable livelihoods, to continue with learning after they leave school, to participate in community life and to live in a sustainable manner.
Activities and/or practices employed:
Questionnaires for the host university which was administered to the lecturers, Performance Contracting Secretariat members, and the heads/representatives of collaborating institutions. Interview schedules with RCE coordinators and document analysis of UNU application documents, RCE workshops and seminars documents, minutes of RCE meetings, government sustainability target documents, minutes of PC committee/sustainability committee meetings, University Environmental Policy and any other ESD related documents in the host university.
