Rationale:
A key concern in Ireland (as in many countries across the globe) is the mental health and well being of its youth and young people. RCE Dublin partners have identified an opportunity to enable young people to reconnect with nature, while also raising awareness of future opportunities for employment within the Green Economy. In doing so, the aspiration is that young people will become more aware that their future career and life styles choices can positively contribute to their personal wellbeing.
Objectives:
The Green Career Guidance and Wellbeing Project has the following objectives:
1. Create a repository of case studies (digital video format) that show how sustainability can be the focus (or a feature) of diverse careers/ employment pathways
2. Build lesson plans to accompany the case studies that can be used by Career Guidance teachers in post-primary settings
3. Circulate the resources among career guidance practitioners, and teacher educators, across the island of Ireland
4. Evaluate the effectiveness of the resources/ project.

3. Circulate the resources among career guidance practitioners, and teacher educators, across the island of Ireland
4. Evaluate the effectiveness of the resources/ project.
Activities and/or practices employed:
Initially the project identified 5-6 suitable case studies, and recorded an interview with each case study participant. The Interview was then edited and formatted for use as a Learning resource. The lesson plans are currently under development and will be finalised for use within teacher education/ post-primary school contexts. The project will be publicly launched May-Sept 2023, with expected usage by career guidance teachers/ educators in 23-24, after which the evaluation will be conducted.
Results:
The digital videos of Case Studies have been developed and are currently being critiqued by practising teachers, with final editing of these to be completed in Spring 2023. The lesson plans are currently under development, and will also be completed in Spring 2023. The roll-out to post-primary schools will begin in September 2023, with evaluation of first implementation to take place in mid-late 2024.
