Socioeconomic and environmental characteristics of the area : 
Nizhny Novgorod city is the central agglomeration of Nizhny Novgorod region (province). It takes place on cross point of two well-known rivers on Russia: Volga river and Oka river. Nizhny Novgorod region (province) is located almost directly in the center of the European part of the Russian Federation, on the Western-European or Russian plain. It covers the territory of 76.6 thousand square kilometers with the population of 3411.0 thousand people that constitutes 2.4 per cent of the total population of Russia. The natural geological and biological landscape is about 300 thousand years old. Nizhny Novgorod city was found in 1221 and it is going to celebrate the 800 years jubilee in the coming future. During this long history Nizhny Novgorod accumulates a large cultural, social and symbolic capital that is safe by people of the local community. . In the end of 19 century it was rural region. In the end of 20 century it is industrial region, where industrial enterprises are in progress, rural population is reduced and mass agricultural culture grow weak more and more.
Description of sustainable development challenge(s) in the area the project addresses: 
The basic challenges are related with traditions of closing industrial-and-military cities in the USSR. So, basically the project is addressed toward practices of large public partnerships, transparency and collaboration activity with participation of different creative communities, students, city volunteers and municipal government. One of the sub-challenges, siding challenges can be described in terms of quality of mass/ public agricultural culture in the industrial local community which grow weak. The basic project network ("Academy of New Faces") takes efforts for development of sustainable local public network for different kinds of creative and collaboration project activity, and in particular for the sub-project "Potato & Potato". This sub-project is aimed on mass/ public agricultural culture which is comprehensive part of contemporary ecological public culture. Strategical goals of the official regional economic sustainable development are related with the regional human capital and public culture progress, including eco-agricultural culture acceleration and entrepreneurships.

Rationale: 
The sub-project is realized on the network of public educational program “Academy of New Faces” which has yearly cycle of events during which the following tasks are solved: public invitation and recruitment of participants and volunteers inti the year activity program of the project framework; public lectures on the topics of successful practices of the local civil partnerships and collaborations; workshops for creating actual creative projects for fields of ecology, tourism, public art; experts consulting sessions for the project groups; procedures of selection, developing and competition for the project groups; handing of certificates for participants and winners; promoting of selected projects toward elaboration of applications for financial support; public information support of the activity. The basic yearly cycle several maim events: Pre-project coordination international round table «Applied directions for Russia – EU partnership sustainable development: Economical, socio-policy, educational dimensions” (May, 2019), public opening event (end of September – beginning of October, 2019); public round table “Public projects for Nizhny Novgorod agglomeration development” (November, 2019); multidisciplinary consulting session “Five Corners” (February, 2020); Public city exposition of social and public art projects “Generator- 2020” (April, 2020); public “Project offices” of the program and application processing (April – May, 2020); public closing event , finishing of the 2018-2019 cycle (June, 2020). “Potato & Potato” sub-project’s steps: Pre-project discussion (May, 14, 2019): team building and the and preliminary schedule presentation ((end of September – beginning of October, 2019); preliminary sub-project contain public presentation (November, 2019), sub-project expert’s support elaboration (February, 2020); prepared sub-project public presentation (April, 2020); Start of realization (since June, 2020).
Objectives: 
-to discuss aspects of role of "small" agricultural fields and handmade agricultural producing for industrial Nizhny Novgorod agglomeration ("dacha living stile" experience in a big industrial city);
- to develop understanding of human capacities development as a basic factor of social and socio-psychological sustainability of industrial Nizhny Novgorod agglomeration;
- to study and to build cooperation network as a bridge between potato planting traditional culture and a modern industrial order of the agglomeration people life
-to integrate the sub-project into regional infrastructure of agricultural tourism.
Activities and/or practices employed: 
In the "Potato & Potato " sub-project's framework participants will touch with several traditional agricultural practices: soil preparation for potato, planting of potato, season of agricultural elaboration of potato, extracting of the crop. Siding practices can be related with cooking traditions and also with practices of touching with farming of domestic animals (cow, nanny-goat and rabbit). The project can be usable for "industry - rural" relation inside of the Nizhny Novgorod agglomeration and also for international RCE framework In particular, local and foreign participants:
-will know why a traditional handmade agricultural technologies are important for humanity aspects of local sustainability and will understand it as one of a way of learning to be human;
-will remember about thrifty relation to food and solicitous relation to agricultural traditions and nature,
-will practically know some key technological episodes of "potato" agricultural tradition;
-will gain the experience on a real field of a tradition village.

It can be about 100 participants, including pupils and students
Results: 
The main results:
-about 100 participants will get the new experience;
-about 2 or 3 traditional village buildings can be renovated for accommodation of groups of participants during practical studies on potato field;
-about 2 or 3 point sizes centers of traditional potato agricultural competences can found sources for sustainable development;
-about 3 or 4 farmers can be involved into local SDG process.
Lessons learned: 
Factors of success:
-basic “Academy of New Faces” program’s support,
-urgent demands on integration of traditional farmers culture into modern industrial economics;
- urgent demands of the industrial agglomeration's people to touch with own national agricultural traditions;
-local network of support this kind of project activity;
-relevance to regional strategy of local tourism projects development.
Failure factors:
-weak individual (small) farmers activity and trouble to look for a rural partner with a usable building and household agricultural practices;
-urgent financial support for renovation of the rural partner's building for the project visitors.
Key messages: 
-traditional handmade agricultural technologies are important for humanity aspects of local sustainability;
-rethinking of thrifty relation to food and of solicitous relation to agricultural traditions and nature,
-rethinking of some key technological episodes of the "potato" agricultural tradition;
-getting the experience on a real field of a traditional village;
-getting siding experience in traditional arts and in looking after domestic animals (cow, nanny-goat and rabbit).
Relationship to other RCE activities: 
For RCE community and ESD practices the sub-project can be important because:
-it can opening one more door for RCE network's members/participants mobility on practical and cultural-educational reasons in the agglomeration area;
-it can give a chance to anybody to test agricultural tradition and to develop practical capacities for any participant;
-it can provide a field of the local partnership network for sustainable development.
-it can develop Nizhny Novgorod agglomeration's tourist infrastructure towards SDG;
-it can give one more way for international cooperation and moving towards promoting peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, providing access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.
Funding: 
For funding the start-up we are going to participate in competition for getting support from regional Center of Innovations for Social Field, on the next step – to get financial support by Vagit Alecperov’s Foundation.
