Kawan Iskandar Malaysia (KIM) Program is an intervention under Socio Economic Mobility strategy. The program empower the community in order to increase the targeted group’s income via Social Enterprise, using cooperative as the vehicle. Approved in 2012, 14 villagers has been identified under this program. In year 2017, under the KIM Infrastructure Grant, certain allocation was given for Low Carbon Infrastructure i.e., Rain Water Harvesting, Solar Panel, LED Lighting, Biodigesters, hands-on activity as showcase to visitor and many more. The green elements installed in 4 KIMs thus far are:
The 4 KIMs are:
a) FELDA Taib Andak
b) Kampung Permas Besar
c) Kampung Ulu Pulai
d) Kampung Sri Gunung Pulai

Objectives:
a) To ensure the villagers understand and continue to embrace the concept of Low Carbon Society (LCS) and function of each element that has been installed.
b) To develop story line for visitors using the data collected
c) To become agents that can resell the green elements

Activities and/or practices employed:
Each KIM is governed by a Kooperasi. The green elements are managed and used by the Kooperasi especially to operate the business at their KIMs, usually a small scale restaurant, cabin-sized outlet (to sell village products), prayer rooms and/or washrooms. Thus far, UTM’s team has visited the KIMs on 12 November 2018 and 13 February 2019 with IRDA’s officers. On 25 November 2018, UTM’s team also engaged with the representatives of all the 4 KIMs to discuss the carbon accounting exercise.
Size of academic audience:
Four (4) villagers (KIMs)
Results:
i) Reduction of carbon emission in Iskandar Malaysia through awareness to specific target group
ii)Promotion and to inculcate Low Carbon Society concept to community
iii) Involve community and as change agent that can further promote LCS to other community and visitors (inclusiveness)

Lessons learned:
It is expected that by installing such green elements can help to reduce energy and water usage, reduce waste generation and encourage optimization of resources. Moreover, the insertion of info panel and hand-on activities to demonstrate how the community can play a role towards low carbon lifestyle.
