The Aquitaine region is the largest agricultural region in Europe with strong economical, industrial and touristic activities. Furthermore, this region brings together all the ecosystems of temperate countries (forest, large rivers, sea and coastal ecosystems etc.). All these reasons explain that this region is a good explains that this region is a good field of experimentation to develop an integrated ESD/ESL initiative.

To provide all actors and individuals in the Aquitaine region, whatever their status, with all the elements to better understand and act better in the face of climate change through an adapted education, information and training.

Rationale:
Rely on the 2nd Acclimaterra report (the first one was presented in December 2017 in Okayama) to develop educational approaches adapted to the various target audiences for ESD and ESL with a special mention for climate mitigation.
Objectives:
To ensure that all actors and individuals take better account of changes in their socio-economic, political and ecological environment through a better understanding of current and future situations and related challenges.
Activities and/or practices employed:
Depending on the public concerned, act within the framework of the various formal education structures (school, university, public and private continuing training structures), non-formal and informal (associations, communities, NGOs, unions, etc.).
Size of academic audience:
The Acclimaterra project brings together more than 300 researchers belonging to all the universities of Aquitaine, encompassing the entire academic world of this region which includes 12 universities and 175,000 students.

Relationship to other RCE activities:
This project involves several major scientific, industrial, political and associative actors members of RCE Bordeaux Aquitaine. This type of project can be developed in France or abroad with any other NCE in the world because the theme of adaptation to climate change concerns us all.

In addition to the institutional support provided by the Polytechnic Institute of Bordeaux, financial support is provided by the city of Bordeaux and the Aquitaine region.
