1. Leadership, Vision and Objectives
1. Vision of your RCE:
A regional framework for members to collaborate, research, inform, advise, promote and develop ESD activity together so that, by the end of the UN Decade for ESD in 2014, learning is central to the vision of sustainability in the East Midlands and ESD is central to education and training in all sectors. 2012: Under review

In 2006 when established as an RCE we had 46 formal partners who all signed a partnership agreement. In 2010 partners are mainly from the membership of the 3 working groups. HE Group - Most of the 10 higher education institutions have attended the periodic meetings, led by Leicester and Loughborough Universities. FE Group (Further or Vocational Education) - Most of the 30 FE institutions have participated in the ESD audit, graduate assistant placement scheme and bimonthly meetings. Leicester University and Leicester College have led the group, with administrative support from Leicester University. Schools Group - Most of the 9 local authorities have been represented by staff with responsibility for sustainable schools. Some voluntary organisations have also supported such as Skillshare International, Food and Farming, Woodcraft Folk. The Government Office for the East Midlands has been a core partner and funder of the Schools group. The East Midlands Development Agency, Groundwork East Midlands and StudentForce for Sustainability have supported the working groups and Management Group. 2012: A revised partnership is being formed including Universities, Further Education colleges, schools, local authorities, businesses and voluntary sector
4. Cooperation and communication :
Through the 3 working groups, each with 2 co-chairs, and the Management Group of these co-chairs, chair and external contact. We use a website and have used a newsletter in the past. Regular emails are sent to group members by the co-chairs of the 3 working groups, and regular bimonthly meetings are held by the FE and Schools group, and periodic meetings by the HE group. 2012: In reorganisation phase, mainly face-to-face meetings
