2. Project Description:
Many international organizations, including UNESCO, have lent their support to Samara in fighting for the preservation of the architectural heritage of one of Russia’s most beautiful cities – Samara. Experts visiting Samara have noted the rapid disappearance of its historic environment with its great variety of wooden architecture, Art Nouveau as well as other styles. A delegation from SAVE Europe’s Heritage visited Samara in August 2008 and noted that the situation is getting worse every year and there is something that should be done to preserve the beautiful architecture of Samara. The project “Samara: Endangered City on the Volga” is a call to the regional and city authorities to come to their sense.
