Socioeconomic and environmental characteristics of the area : 
This southwest area in vietnam is the biggest agriculture area in vietnam, supply agriculture product for the whole country as well as for export. The key products are rice, vegetable, fruit, and aquaculture products. The natural conditions support the high yield of agricultural activity. However, with the intensive cultivation,the environmental conditions have been going down, which in return affect the productivity of agriculture. The non-organic farming is the common practice there. Agriculture depends on synthetic fertilizer and plant protection chemical reduce the product value, create obstacles for export, and affect the healthy of ecosystem

The challenges in this area include:
1. Maintain high productivity of agricultural product for ensuring food safety
2. Increase the product value to maintain the well-being of community
3. Protection of environment to ensure long term benefit

Rationale: 
The farmers lack of knowledge to do organic farming, while these knowledge is available but scattering in different sources. By collecting the database on organic farming protocol, and transfer to farmers to build up their capacity will help them to overcome the obstacle in technical and trading, reduce the risk of costly trial period, ensuring the income of farmers
Objectives: 
Goal of this activity is building capacity for enhancing organic farming practices in southwest of vietnam
Teaching outcome: Sharing the successful cases on organic farming, exchange of issues and lesson learnt in farmer groups, sharing the available farming protocol and techniques, understanding the barrier to trade and how to overcome
Activities and/or practices employed: 
Several activities has been done within this project:
1. Field survey to assess current condition of farming practices in Southwest vietnam
2. Connecting expert in respective fields, preparing the material for training
3. Organize training workshop for local authority and farmer, and interested scientist
4. Support one farm at the field to create good model to organic rice farming
5 .Sharing lesson learnt from the model to local community and farmers
Size of academic audience: 
300 learners
Results: 
The project is still ongoing, in which activity 1 to 3 were finished.
1. Field survey to assess current condition of farming practices in Southwest vietnam
2. Connecting expert in respective fields, preparing the material for training
3. Organize training workshop for local authority and farmer, and interested scientist

We are not working on activity 4 and 5, which schedule to be done in 2019, and finish be the end of 2019.
4. Support one farm at the field to create good model to organic rice farming
5. Sharing lesson learnt from the model to local community and farmers
Lessons learned: 
1. The problems related to sustainable development may different country by country, and region and region. If the project target at the practical problem and link the with solution toward sustainable development, it will receive support from many stakeholder
2. The changing of mindset take time, and require good show case
3. Collaboration will reduce resources constraints
Key messages: 
Organic farming is will orienting us to low-carbon society. Education will make organic farming happen in the large scale soon in the future
