Provide a short description of the project including strategies, regional challenges, aims and specific project activities.: 

Introduction:

These children live in the street and have no access to proper care, education and basic need. The aim of the project is to motivate and inspire the children to change their life style and aim in life. Impart legal knowledge, their rights and responsibility.

 

Aims:   

1. To develop legal and personal skills for law students.

2. To sensitize law students to issues on urban children, their needs and their rights and the realization of United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

3. To assist urban children in their education, activities and to raise awareness of their rights and responsibilities. Also to assist in the rehabilitation and reintegration of children in conflict of the law as well to realize their potential and ambition.

 

Knowledge transferred:

1. The knowledge sharing will be conducted by the Law students, specifically, students of the Community Outreach Programme (COP).

2. Interactive teaching methods will be used such as role play, puzzles, quizzes, and drawings.

3. Lesson plans will be prepared before each activity.

4. The same lesson plan will be used for different organisation.

5. Lesson plans will be prepared in English and all relevant materials will be in English. The teaching will be conducted in English and Malay languages depending on the group of children.

6. The activity will be conducted to approximately 15-30 clients each session.

7. A handbook on rights and responsibilities of children will be published and be given to partner organisations it can also be used in future projects.

 

Impact of project:

Law students are sensitised and open to the reality of life in a big city like Kuala Lumpur. Sensitised to the life and needs of urban children. To reach as many children with the hope of motivating then change the lives of urban children and their family.
