1. Project title: 
Olympic Park Sustainabilty Group
2. Project Description: 
The London RCE intends to act as a catalyst to ensure that the heritage of the Olympic Park and the surrounding area (to which is belongs) is accessible and benefits those who will live there and those who visit. The LRCE will bring groups together who are already working on the ‘edge’ of the park (community groups, nature groups and individuals) who have an interest in the ongoing life of the area and wish to see the integration of the new Olympic park communities into the wider life of the East End – focussing on heritage, the natural world and community development.

We are keen to ensure that any initiatives in this area acknowledge the cultural, employment and economic history and background of the wider area, including Docklands. Schools curricula should be a beneficiary of any initiative.

To ensure that groups that might not normally have a voice in such discussions are included too – e.g. young people, old people from all communities.

11. Contribution to reforms and innovations: 
The inention is to produce the strategic vision and plan with the aid of the many exiting groups surrounding the Olympic Park to contribute to the long term commitment to sustainability within this new housing area, notably ensuring the safeguarding of the amenity control of land. This plan will be offered as the basis of discussions with the Olympic Legacy Company, who are responsible for the post Olympic issues. We hope to produce a short video to convey key messages.

15. Type of involvement: 
The existing three partners are acting as representatives of the whole LRCE partnership. Other partners will be drawn into the project once it develops to a new stage.

17. Educational activities: 
This is a new project awaiting funding. The LRCE is a catyalst in bringing together existing groups of people already involved in the social, historical, ecological and economic aspects of areas surrounding the Olympic Park. The two university partners will ensure that existing programmes ( noteably those in UEL) will be aware of the project and will be asked to contribute evaluation by students wotking with the groups involved.
18. Learning activities: 
The main deliverable for this project is a stragic plan developed by the groups and written by the LRCE partners (plus a video) that can be used for new communities housed on the Olypmic Park after the Games. We hope that the plan will be useful to the Olympic Park Legacy Company and the video useful for communities over a perios of say 1-2 years. The focus of the video will be to inform new communities that they are part of a wider communitiy of people who have sustainability issues at the forefront of their contribution to life in the east end of London.
