Provide a short description of the project including strategies, regional challenges, aims and specific project activities.:

Nigeria’s nomads and elsewhere in Africa are largely overlooked by humanitarian aid organizations, because they are hard to find and hard to help as they are frequently moving in search of adequate pasture, as a result of which, schooling their children becomes very challenging. In Nigeria alone, “there is an estimated 4.1million school age nomads’ children and the literacy rate among them is 0.28%” according to the Federal Ministry of Education FME, 2005.

To solve the challenge of access to education Goal 4 of the SDGs among excluded, forgotten, most marginalized and hard to reach communities in Nigeria, we invented EdTents “digital solar powered tech classrooms”. Watch our RCE Kano’s Interim Coordinator as he was invited by the United Nations to speak on our invention in New York https://t.co/CwAxyMc0B3

EdTents are inventively designed to function as mobile classrooms in order to help roaming nomads’ communities gain access to education, each tent uses collapsible setting that can be assembled or disassembled within twenty minutes and is easy to transport; a whole classroom could be carried conveniently by a pack animal.

EdTents model comprises of 2.8 x 3.5 meter size and 2.5 meter height by 4 inch, mishmash of galvanize metal poles with 2 x 2.5 inch crossed guy line, a black board, collapsible chair; a rug, and equipped with visual teaching aids, it has spaces for twenty to thirty children which still make it by far cheaper than a regular classroom. https://creaccblog.wordpress.com/2015/11/27/edtents-mobile-solar-powered-tech-classrooms/
