RCE Penang hosted the 7th RCE Asia-Pacific Meeting and International Symposium on “A Decade of Regional Centres of Expertise on ESD: Reflections and Advances in Asia-Pacific” from 26-28 August 2014. Over 50 participants from 16 RCEs and 2 candidate RCEs gathered in Penang, Malaysia and discussed various thematic as well as strategic issues focused on how Asia-Pacific RCEs can contribute to the Global Action Programme on ESD (GAP), an action oriented framework launched as a follow-up to the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (DESD, 2005-2014).

RCE Kitakyushu hosted the 6th RCE Asia-Pacific Meeting and International Symposium on Sustainable Lifestyles from 20-21 October 2013. Over 70 participants from 14 RCEs and one candidate RCE gathered in Kitakyushu, Japan and discussed various thematic as well as strategic issues including how to further strengthen inter-RCE collaboration and enhance ESD towards 2014 and beyond. The International Symposium on Sustainable Lifestyles was organized in conjunction with the Asia-Pacific RCE Meeting in the afternoon of 21 October.
