1. Project title: 
Environmental Education Awareness Initiative
2. Project Description: 
This is a joint project between Egerton University and Ministry of Environment and Mineral Resources. The objectives are: to improve waste disposal and educate on waste separation and recycling, to sensitize the university community and its environs on sustainable environmental management, to enhance university/neighbouring community partnerships and to promote the Green Ribbons as a symbol of environmental education and awareness. The target population for the project include Egerton University community (students and staff), neighbouring Primary and Secondary Schools, and Local Community Neighbouring Egerton University. Our project activities include: placement of paired dustbins with environmental conservation awareness messages within the university, organizing, coordinating and implementing environmental education talks for creation of awareness in the neighbouring primary and secondary schools and even to the community around, organizing and implementing an environmental conservation day for cleaning river Njoro, and tree planting, setting up of new billboards and remodel old ones at strategic locations within the Egerton University campuses with messages that highlight the importance of caring for the environment, holding public meetings to sensitize the neighbouring communities on sustainable environmental conservation and donation of tree seedlings to promote afforestation.

What are the current results of the project in terms of Outcomes:
Partnerships established with six neighbouring schools
- Community groups trained on establishment of tree nurseries
- Over 100,000 tree seedlings donated to neighbouring communities
- Joint tree planting activities held
- Billboards with Environmental awareness messages erected
- Dustbins for separation of waste fabricated and distributed in campus
