Organised by the RCE Regional Youth Coordinators (RYCs) and co-hosted by the Global RCE Service Centre at UNU-IAS, the RCE Youth Webinar 'Igniting Changes for a Sustainable World: Embracing Intersectionality in Sustainability and Local Community Actions' will be held virtually (online) on 10 August, 2023 to celebrate International Youth Day 2023.
A video featuring RCE Sustainable Consumption and Production education projects conducted during the Global Action Programme (GAP) on ESD, from 2015-2019, highlights some of the innovative projects conducted by the Global RCE Network focused on sustainable consumption and production. During this period, a total of 115 RCE projects focused on SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) across 31 countries.
The Global RCE Service Centre at the United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS) announces a call for nominations for the 12th annual RCE Awards. RCEs are encouraged to nominate their most outstanding Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) project/s for the award. RCE youth members are also strongly encouraged to apply.
On 3 May, 2023, RCE Saskatchewan held its 15th annual ESD recognition event, where it honoured 34 sustainability projects - a record number for the event. The awards were created to honour sustainable development leaders from businesses, towns and cities, educational institutions and community-based organisations. More than 300 initiatives have been recognised since the award program’s inception in 2008.
The Sirindhorn International Environmental Park (RCE Cha-am) and co-organisers are organising the 'International Conference on Environment, Climate Change and Energy for Future Challenges: Best Practice and Innovation for Conservation and Restoration', to be held online on 26 June 2023 from 8.30-13.00 (GMT+7).
Launching today is a new publication from the United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS), featuring innovative education projects on the topic of sustainable consumption and production (SCP), developed by Regional Centres of Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development (RCEs).
On 26 April, 2023, UNU-IAS organised an online side event at the 2023 ECOSOC Youth Forum, showcasing the commitment of youth leaders to environmental sustainability. The event, titled ‘From Ideas to Action: RCE Youth Projects on Multistakeholder Partnerships’, aimed to promote a deeper understanding of initiatives developed by Regional Centres of Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development (RCEs).
On 21 April 2023, RCE Dobong-gu held an orientation on Zoom for the '2023 Global ESD Youth Project Neuru Season 3' to promote ecological literacy and glocal leadership among domestic and international youth. Over 100 students, teachers, and guardians from various RCE cities participated in the orientation to celebrate the start of Project Neuru Season 3.
RCE Hangzhou jointly hosted the '2023 Sino-Foreign Scientific Dialogue' on 13 March 2023 in Linping, Hangzhou. Held under the theme 'Achieving the zero-carbon era through technology', it not only served as a discussion forum, but also as the kick-off ceremony for the second University-Level Zero Carbon and Cyclic Economy Technology Innovation Competition.
