Description of RCE and Geographic Region:

RCE Stettiner Haff bundles actors from agricultural startups, NGOs, universities, and cities in the region. It is located in the very northeast, or northwest of Germany and Poland respectively.

Goals and Objectives:

RCE Stettiner Haff's goal is to focus on traditional knowledge and expertise and bring it together with global expertise and wisdom to enable formal and non-formal institutions and individuals to act on sustainable development goals in the regional context. Ecotourism and local healthy consumption is the strategy to help the rural and rich area for conserving nature in a politically challenging region.

Activities
Current Activities:
  • Developing new eduacational offers in the field (global field 2000m2.org), extending the successful concept, developing new models for universities and schools.
  • Events to sensibilise ESD and SDGs such as action days of sustainability 2019, Expert Dialog of ESD, seminars with practical approaches, and theoretical learning sessions.
  • Developing a local and digital platform for connecting and awarding local engagments on SDGs and ESD, and engaging more citizens (also from cities) on actions for the future, such as acting by example, applying for Fellowship or Founder programmes for the future, or simply clean ups or planting actions.

Upcoming Activities:
  • Create a local digital platform for actions and a knowledge centre on global and meta knowledge, to give local actors support on what is best for global society and nature, and enable more citizens and startups to participate.
  • Activate partners and actors of transformation to bring up actions and learn possibilities for the European Week of Sustainablility 2020.
  • Award people and initiatives to increase visibility of those who act in the sense of the SDGs or ESD Programmes.

Achievements:

Since its acknowledgement as an RCE in 2017, through RCE Stettiner Haff's work, a rural area of very east German villages have started to feel activated and sensiblised on SD and ESD. 1,500 people have visited the RCE's global field and many workshops and dialogues have taken place in the last three years to enhance more activities in the right directions.
