RCE Greater Dhaka organizes biodiversity-related student activities

RCE Greater Dhaka organized a field trip on biodiversity on 28th Nov, 2015. The trip organized by the Department of Environmental Science was led by Prof. Rahman and Dr Dastagir for 150 students currently enrolled in sustainability related courses at the International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT). This initiative was part of the planned semester activity of the students. The National Botanical Garden of Bangladesh with an area of approximately 84 hectares is located at Mirpur in Dhaka. Established in 1961, it is the largest botanical garden in Bangladesh. The gardens provide a resource of knowledge not only for environmentalists, botanists and nature lovers, but it is also a popular tourist destination. 

Students learned about plant species that grow in different climate zones, indigenous plants and plants resilient to climate change. Later on a cultural event was organised in the gardens with fun activities related to nature.
