Introduction:

The question of poverty among communities Kuala Besut is a problem that occurs without a solution. The problem of access to government programs is somewhat limited because of the nature of a program is top down and not bottom up. It is important to stimulating the local economy through local community involvement from the early days of the program.

Aims:   

1. To create a platform for trade cooperation among fishing communities

2. To generate business proposal for Koperasi Nelayan Kuala Besut (KNKB)

3. To build up the local economy through the increase of business opportunity or small entrepreneurship

4. To develop new product based on the states of marine resources

Knowledge transferred:

1. The knowledge sharing will be conducted by the Law students, specifically, students of the Community Outreach Programme (COP).

2. Interactive teaching methods will be used such as role play, puzzles, quizzes, and drawings.

3. Lesson plans will be prepared before each activity.

4. The same lesson plan will be used for different organisation.

5. Lesson plans will be prepared in English and all relevant materials will be in English. The teaching will be conducted in English and Malay languages depending on the group of children.

6. The activity will be conducted to approximately 15-30 clients each session.

7. A handbook on rights and responsibilities of children will be published and be given to partner organisations it can also be used in future projects.

Impact of project:

1. Increase the income of the community.

2. Reduce the cost of living of the community.

3. Increase the productivity of the fisherman.

4. Increase the safety and protection for the community.

5. Increase the facilities in Kuala Besut.
